RemarksThere are no toilets/restrooms, but there is a telephone, and minor repairs can be done. The restaurant here is highly recommended. There are some facilities for scuba diving and sport fishing. The area around the Bay of Cardenas is devoted to hectic petroleum extraction, and this leaves its mark in the form of fumes and deposits. You will need to check by VHF that there is space for your boat before arriving, as the marina serves mainly as a base for tour boats catering to the Varadero resort.
Local notesVaradero is a major beach resort east of Havana, with watersports, diving and western-style bars, restaurants, discos and nightclubs. However, Cubans except for service workers are kept away from the area. There is a pharmacy, hospital and post/telephone office. The bank on Calle 32 is one of the few in Cuba where cash can be obtained with a credit card. Supplies, however, are hard to find. Try the Varazul Hotel in Calle 15 for bread, fruit and butter.
