| Remarks | The marina has no public toilets. Sail and fishing boats can be hired. You can dinghy into Varadero on the north shore of the lagoon. There is a pharmacy, hospital and post/telephone office. The bank on Calle 32 is one of the few in Cuba where cash can be obtained with a credit card. Supplies, however, are hard to find. Try the Varazul Hotel in Calle 15 for bread, fruit and butter. |
| Local notes | Varadero is a major beach resort east of Havana, with watersports, diving and western-style bars, restaurants, discos and nightclubs. However, Cubans except for service workers are kept away from the area. |
