Regional NotesThe Big Bend Coast, and its northerly neighbour the Pandhandle, are less well known than other sections of the west Florida coastline. Nevertheless they have their charms in a more rural setting and less glossy lifestyle. The areas is very popular with fishing enthusiasts. The Big Bend Coast is beginning to be renamed the Nature Coast, reflecting its prime attraction for visitors. The ICW ends at Tarpon Springs, and doesn't start again until Carrabelle, 140 miles further along the coast. The inshore waters of the Big Bend/Nature Coast are very shallow: boats needing more than four feet of water will be restricted in their access. Regional LinksThe Locations |
